She Blooms with Annelie Maddock

Guest Designer Annelie Maddock | Bella Blvd “She Blooms”

Hi everyone! I was so excited to be asked to guest design by Joanna, and even more excited when she told me I’d be working with the Bella Blvd “She Blooms” collection! The colours and patterns in this collection are just amazing, and bright colours happens to be right up my alley!!

If you have seen any of my work before, you know that I like working with white space. Whether or not my pages are full or paper and embellishments or not, I like to leave enough space on my pages for the eyes to rest a little. Even with a LOUD collection such as “She Blooms”, I feel I have achieved my white space!

Let’s have a look at what I did.

My first LO has a lot of white space, and another thing that I love – mist splatters. I also did a little fussy cutting, something I LOATHE, but these flowers just needed to get onto my page. And I think it looks quite striking?

A few strips of paper - backing with the black acetate word paper, some embellishments and a big title – that’s all you need. The Cocoa Vanilla Studio enamel dots and some faux stitching finishes off the page nicely. It’s sometimes hard finding papers that work with my girl’s bright clothes in photos, but this collection is just perfect for it!

My second page has more on it, but as the striped paper works as a mat for my white cardstock, there’s still a feeling of white space on there.

On this LO I have also used my new favourite toy – the fringe scissors. If you were attending the latest retreat in Christchurch with me, you know I was quite obsessed with it and I had to order my own as soon as I had internet reception!!

Again, I have added Cocoa Vanilla Studio enamel dots, fussy cut flowers (seriously – two pages in a row?!) and some of the wonderful chipboard elements, to finish off the page. I also really love the stickers page that comes with this line, gives many options for layering!

For my last page, I wanted to add a mixed media element, but keep my “clean & simple” style. So I found a cut file with the “plus” and made my own mask. Works really well as there is a “plus” pattern in one of the papers in the “She Blooms” collection!

I also used a butterfly cut file, and covered the cut outs with different patterned papers. This has been done a lot lately, if you look around social media, and I’ve done it on other pages. It’s a really cool look, both for getting more patterns on your page, and to make the page really POP.

Finishing off with Cocoa Vanilla Studio enamel dots again, some stickers and chipboard – but also two chipboard hashtag words by ScrapFX that I sprayed with black mist before I added them to my butterfly. This time I outlined my title letters, to make them stand out a little, and I also got some journaling down. Yay me!

Thanks again Joanna for letting me guest design for The Paper Teapot, and thanks everyone for stopping by today.

Sometimes I blog here:, but I am more active as scrappinswewi on Instagram. Come see me there!

See you later!
